Your River Needs You!

News and Stories

24 Jun

Floating Pennywort is a non-native invasive species that can grow up to 20cm per day. It can take over water courses if left to grow and have a devastating impact on wildlife and people.

If you enjoy walking alongside rivers this might be the perfect role for you. All we ask is that you scan the river for Floating Pennywort and report back to us. Current areas of interest are the Foss Dyke Channel, River Till, Catchment Drain and Brayford Pool.

If you live close to these water courses and are interested in learning about Floating Pennywort, how to identify and report it, and learn about the impacts it has on our rivers, then we would love to hear from you!
